Look for real estate for rent in these areas of Phnom Penh

Few countries in the world are as easy to rent real estate as Cambodia. There are a range of rental options to suit your budget from the simple one-bedroom apartment to a palatial villa.

Residential rental contracts

There are no restrictions placed upon foreigners seeking a condo for rent in Cambodia, or for that matter any other residential property. Contracts are flexible, ranging from a one-month rolling contract, to six-month contracts and a year or more. Typically landlords will ask for a month’s deposit with a further month’s rent in advance. The deposit is often used to cover the final month’s rent.

Contract terms can vary considerably from landlord to landlord, so when looking for real estate for rent in Cambodia be prepared to negotiate. The team of professional advisers at Pointer are willing to advise you on these matters.

Utilities: Electricity, Water, TV and Internet

You should allow for utilities in your budget. Electricity should be charged at the state Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) rate, although sometimes landlord will try to add a supplement. The cost of water in Cambodia is negligible, at about US$5 per month, the same as for Cable TV, although this will often be included in your rental fee. Internet will probably only be included in serviced apartments, but it is easy to get installed and reasonably cheap, with many internet providers competing for your business, except for in more remote areas.

Where do you want to live in Cambodia?

Phnom Penh

The number of newly built condos and borey in Phnom Penh, means that you are literally spoilt for choice, and real bargains can be found. Siem Reap

Siem Reap is another great city with plenty of rental opportunities. Just like the capital the market has seen an influx of condos and borey, although not quite to the same level as in Phnom Penh. For further information, read our section Siem Reap Real Estate for Rent.

Sihanoukville, Kampot, and elsewhere in Cambodia

Outside of these two cities, those looking for an apartment for rent in Sihanoukville should face little problem in finding something suitable. The same applies for those seeking a villa or a house for rent in Sihanoukville. Another great option is to rent a house in Kampot, either inside the town, or along the river or perhaps in the countryside. You should also easily find an apartment for rent in Kampot, preferably in the centre of this wonderful tranquil Cambodian town.
